Hello!

My name is Dan. I’ve always been a reader, my favourite pastime as a child was to disappear into a book. I was fascinated by the worlds I imagined, brought to life, and explored. I loved seeing how words worked together and complemented each other to bring these stories to life. However, I also realised that I had a knack for spotting errors and inconsistencies within the text. I can still recall, with vivid detail, spotting one such continuity error in a well-loved book at the age of 12.

I’ve never forgotten that moment of satisfaction, not just for spotting the error, but knowing how to fix it. As my life continued, still reading voraciously, I began exploring different career paths. I’ve journeyed through retail sales and restaurant kitchens. I’ve battled children throwing tantrums and bathed screaming toddlers as a nanny. I became a church site manager and developed my DIY skills. Yet, after all of that, and a few additional experiences, I realised that what I really wanted to do was work with language.

I joined the Chartered Institute of Editors and Proofreaders (CIEP) and undertook my training. I took a secondment to a creative department for the aforementioned church and wrote copy, as well as proofing and editing content from across the organisation. I started FullStopEditing. and have since provided my services for the Zoological Society of London, the National Geographic Society, My Moonbox (a women’s health program), an engineering journal and an amateur historian, among others. While I do have certain topics where I can add my knowledge and experience, I also thrive on learning new content and it’s exciting to have a need to expand my vocabulary for a specific area of interest.

Throughout the pandemic, I further increased my skill set and begun to provide original copy for businesses. Specialising in content centred around cryptocurrencies and the ever-evolving metaverse but, as always, willing to learn and expand on my areas of expertise.
